Biggest ocean of the world

Pacific Ocean  is the biggest ocean of the world.To its west there are the continent of Asia and Australia and to the east the continent of North and South America. It is the largest and the deepest ocean of world too . It is spread over one - third of the total area of the earth from east to west . Pacific means " peaceful " , its name got from the portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan in 1521 who called it's waters " Mar Pacifico " which means peaceful sea . Total area of Pacific Ocean is 60,060,700 sq mi ( 155,557,000 sq km) . The maximum depth of  Pacific Ocean is 4,188 m / 13,749 ft near the Philippine Island that called Mariana Trench (Marianas Trench).
