What is BIOS?
Bios stand for basic input and output system is a small software up to 1MB or 2 MB that is always loaded in ROM chip, ROM is a type of memory which couldn`t be altered or changed, Bios is a program that monitor all the functions of computer and load the operating system from hard disk or from floppy disk to RAM, Bios conducts various operations described below
POST (Power On Self Test) Power On Self Test is the first instruction executed during start-up. It checks the PC components and that everything works.
You can recognize it during the RAM test, which occurs as soon as you turn power on. The post tests  the processor
Check the Bios
Check the CMOS configuration (CMOS Setup or Bios Setup)
Initializing the timer (internal clock)
Checking RAM and Cache Memory
Installing all BIOS functions
Initializing DMA controller
If POST detects any error it displays an error message or emits the sequence of Beeps(short sound). Or send a post code to the computer serial port which can be retrieved by using special diagnostic hardware.
