Who made world first parachute jump?

The world first parachute jump was made by Andre Jacques on 22 October 1797. He made a jump from a hot ballon from 6,500 to 8,000 ft over Monceau park in Paris in a 23 ft diameter parachute which was made of white canvas with a basket attached.
